Pre-Press and Production File Preparation
Once final approval is received, the project still isn’t “done.”
OMC prepares every deliverable with meticulous attention to technical standards to ensure your project prints correctly, arrives on time, and looks as good in hand as it does on screen. This behind-the-scenes phase—often invisible to clients—is critical and time-intensive, requiring 2–4 hours minimum. That’s why it’s so important to get the proofing right.
Typical pre-press preparation includes:
- Converting and packaging files to exact vendor specifications
- Ensuring correct resolution and color profiles (PMS, CMYK, RGB, etc.)
- Adjusting, outlining, or embedding fonts
- Applying bleeds, crop marks, and safe zones
- Checking for ink limits and print integrity
- Exporting press-ready PDFs or native files per vendor requirements
- Reviewing proofs and facilitating vendor corrections if needed
- Delivering files to the vendor and confirming receipt and compatibility
- Conducting in-person press checks for high-profile pieces
Specialty items—such as die cuts, foil stamping, fabric or 3D materials, large-format banners, or merchandise—require custom templates, specialized formatting, and multiple rounds of technical review with vendors. These projects may take significantly longer and cannot be rushed.
