Artifically-Generated Imagery and Assets (AI Art)

Loyola University New Orleans does not permit the use of AI-generated imagery, graphics, illustrations, data visualizations, artwork, or other visual assets in university marketing, advertising, recruitment, fundraising, web, social media, publications, environmental graphics, giveaway items, merchandise, apparel, signage, or any other public-facing communication without prior approval from the Office of Marketing and Communications (OMC).

AI-generated visual assets frequently contain inaccuracies, fabricated details, visual artifacts, anatomical errors, invented or misleading data, distorted representations, stylistic inconsistencies, accessibility concerns, and other quality-control issues that do not meet the university's standards for authenticity, accuracy, professionalism, brand representation, or institutional credibility. Such assets also introduce legal, ethical, reputational, copyright, licensing, privacy, and intellectual property concerns.

Official university communications should prioritize authentic photography of the Loyola community, professionally commissioned artwork, licensed stock imagery, and other approved and properly licensed visual assets that accurately represent the institution, its people, its programs, and its campus environment.

The use of AI-generated images depicting or purporting to depict students, faculty, staff, alumni, campus facilities, academic activities, research activities, university events, or any other aspect of university life is strictly prohibited.

OMC reserves the right to reject any submitted artwork, photography, illustration, data visualization, design asset, or visual communication that contains AI-generated content, appears to contain AI-generated content, or exhibits characteristics commonly associated with AI-generated imagery. OMC may require the submitting department or unit to provide documentation verifying the authenticity, accuracy, origin, and licensing status of any submitted asset.
