Eric Schmidt is a full-stack developer and digital strategist with more than 30 years of experience in IT infrastructure, UX design, and web development. He joined Loyola’s Office of Marketing and Communications in 2016 and now leads front- and back-end development for the university’s web platforms, helping translate institutional goals into scalable, accessible, and user-centered digital experiences.
Before joining Loyola, Eric co-founded evanSchmidt design group and led digital projects for iconic New Orleans brands including Café Du Monde, Tabasco, and Ruth’s Chris Steak House. His areas of expertise include Drupal development, web architecture, accessibility, and long-range digital strategy—always with an emphasis on inclusive design and educational impact.
Born in New Orleans and raised in Chalmette, Eric has always called the region home—even during a brief post-Katrina relocation to Tennessee. He’s a board member of the New Orleans Blues Society, a certified yoga instructor, and a passionate advocate for open-source communities.
