Bio
A proud New Orleans native, Dr. Aariel Charbonnet brings more than a decade of experience in higher education marketing, communications, and strategic leadership to her role as Vice President for Marketing and Communications. She joined Loyola in February 2025 following a national search that included input from faculty, staff, and students across the university.
Before coming to Loyola, Dr. Charbonnet served as Assistant Dean for Strategy at the Louisiana State University (LSU) Manship School of Mass Communication. In that role, she oversaw strategic communications, media relations, community engagement, alumni relations, student recruitment, and internal operations—developing initiatives that elevated the school’s visibility, strengthened stakeholder relationships, and advanced its mission. She previously served as the Manship School’s Director of Communications.
Dr. Charbonnet holds a Ph.D. in Educational Leadership and Research and a Master of Mass Communication from LSU. Her combined academic and professional background uniquely equips her to lead Loyola’s marketing and communications strategy with insight, innovation, and integrity. As a scholar-practitioner, she brings deep curiosity, collaborative energy, and a strong belief in the power of narrative to drive impact.
For Dr. Charbonnet, this role is more than professional—it’s personal. A Loyola summer arts camp she attended as a child sparked her early admiration for the university’s mission and campus. Returning now as a leader, she describes the experience as “a full-circle moment.”
She is passionate about amplifying Loyola’s Jesuit values, creative spirit, and the incredible work of its students, faculty, and alumni
