Procedure: Website Development

Office, college, department, professional organization, and center pages

My college (office, department, professional organization, center of excellence, etc.) needs a new web page. Where do I start?

The university web team programs, designs, and creates all new sites for offices, colleges, departments, professional organizations, and centers. Once a site is set up, it is the responsibility of the requesting office, college, department, and so forth, to keep the copy timely and accurate.

Examples of sites developed by the web team:

New site development can take between 3 to 6 months depending on the complexity of the site.

To request a site either from scratch or using an existing university-designed template, complete the Web Request Form.

You MUST be part of a Loyola office, college, department, professional organization, or center to request this service. If you are part of a student organization, or are requesting an individual faculty, staff, or student page, see the following sections.

Student organization pages

My student organization needs a website. Where do I start?

Non-academic
Non-academic student organizations
are responsible for creating their own sites and maintaining their own web space. Web space is offered both through the Office of Information Technology and the Office of Student Affairs through our student organization portal, OrgSync.

Examples of non-academic student organization sites:

Student organizations that do not already have a valid Loyola user account should apply for web page space on the university server through the Office of Information Technology.

Academic
Student organizations sponsored by an academic college or department may request a web page for their organization through the administrative assistant in their respective college or department. (For an example, MBA Student Association).

Individual faculty and staff pages

I am a faculty or staff member, and I need a web page that lists my teaching history, credentials, etc.. How can I get one?

There are two types of faculty and staff pages: departmental faculty and staff pages, and personal faculty and staff pages.

Departmental faculty and staff pages:

Departmental faculty or staff pages are created and maintained by the person in your department in charge of maintaining your department's website.

To request a page as previously described, prepare the content that you would like to have on the page, and ask your departmental web editor to create the page for you, using that content.

Departmental faculty and staff pages are single, static pages that include credentials and other professional information. For example:

Personal faculty and staff pages:

Faculty and staff members are responsible for creating their own sites and maintaining their own web space. The university web team is not responsible for creating, modifying, or maintaining individual faculty or staff pages. Individual faculty or staff web pages must abide by these policies.

  • Web page space is available to all Loyola faculty and staff members. Each valid Loyola user account is pre-assigned web page space. To apply for more space, contact the Office of Information Technology.

Individual student pages

I am a student and I need a web page. How can I get one?

Students are responsible for creating their own sites and maintaining their own web space. The university web team is not responsible for creating, modifying, or maintaining individual student pages.
