Media Relations

Media coverage shapes public opinion and is a major source of information for the audiences we would like to reach: prospective students, alumni, donors, academic peers, and civic and business leaders. While we cannot guarantee media coverage for every item we pitch, the Office of Public Affairs will work with you to find the most compelling and effective way to share your news item with our internal and external audiences.

The director of Public Affairs within the Office of Marketing & Communications oversees all media relations for Loyola University New Orleans. This includes the dissemination of all press releases and responses to press inquiries. The director is the official university spokesperson during crisis situations and in all matters concerning university policy, procedures, students, and employees.

  • Employees contacted by any media representative for an interview should direct these calls and inquiries to the Office of Public Affairs, (504) 861-5448. If news media are present on the grounds of the university, Public Affairs must be notified immediately by calling (504) 861-5448.
  • Individuals contacted for comments, opinions, or as experts in their fields of study are encouraged to respond, at their own discretion, to questions relating to their areas of expertise. As a courtesy, they should notify the Office of Public Affairs that a media representative has contacted them. Official university statements are approved by the president and are to be issued only by Public Affairs to the media and other interested parties.
